Adopting A Newfoundland Rescue
Newfoundlands become available for adoption from many sources throughout Florida. Once relinquished, each rescue is extensively vetted and evaluated for health, behavior and temperament. This information is used to help find the perfect forever home for the Newfoundland Rescue.
Choosing to open your home and heart to a rescue dog can be one of the hardest and most rewarding things a person or family can do. While some rescue dogs settle in quickly with their new lives and families, others take time, patience, and work to help them feel safe and loved. Before submitting an adoption application, it’s important to step back and ask yourself what you’re looking for in a rescue dog versus what kind of dog would best fit into your lifestyle. You may find that those are two very different answers.
Preparing For Adoption
All Newfoundland rescues are brought up to date on core vaccinations, tested for heartworm, and spayed or neutered before being placed in a foster or permanent new home. Once these steps are complete, the rescue's fully vetted foster family will provide love and care for the rescue dogs but will also assess temperament and behavior and maintain the health of every rescue dog taken in. The Newf will be kept in foster care as long as necessary to prepare them to enter their new and permanent forever home.
Before any adoption is approved, a home visit is done to the potential adoptee's home to determine if they and their home environment would be suitable for a Newfoundland rescue. All potential adoptees must have the proper pet supplies to keep their Newfie happy and safe.

Loose Change Appeal
Ours is a small, all volunteer organization that relies on the generous donations of our members and supporters to be able to afford the expenses associated with our rescue efforts. Please consider making a donation and remember even small amounts really do add up.
